About

Coneyisland Genetics

Nestled in one of Ireland’s agricultural heartlands, Dúnmasc Genetics is a leading bovine genetics and fertility management service provider. Founded in 2014 by Stephen Dowling, Dúnmasc Genetics is a family-run business built upon long-standing traditions and generations of experience in the agricultural and veterinary industries.

History and heritage have always been at the core of the Dúnmasc Genetics brand. Located in Dunamase, County Laois, on the outskirts of Portlaoise, our name is derived from “Dunamase Castle” or “The Rock of Dunamase”, a defensive stronghold dating back to the 12th Century. Indeed, Dunamase Castle stands 46 meters tall on the Dowling family farm and towers over the surrounding land. Loosely translated to “Fort of Másc”, Dunmase is steeped in history.

While our focus was originally centred around embryo transfer and training services for the agricultural as well as the veterinary industries, in recent years, Dúnmasc genetics has grown rapidly. We have since expanded our area of expertise to include bovine pregnancy scanning and training courses. As well as this, our product range has grown to include HerdInsights and semen sales. Our business growth may be attributed to a variety of factors, ranging from our innovative business model and experienced team to our exceptional customers and partners such as Dogagen Genetik.

The agricultural and veterinary industries are undergoing rapid change, therefore, access to the latest trends and genetic advancements are paramount. At Dúnmasc Genetics, we ensure that our clients always have access to the latest advancements. Our core belief is that the animal comes first. Moreover, we believe that breeding the correct production and physical traits is vital for profitability. At Dúnmasc Genetics, our vision of a balanced animal is one with an equal weighting between indexes, production and physical features.

Our custom-built laboratory is designed with both tailored analysis and practicality in mind; we are the first company to combine embryo transfer and semen distribution in Ireland. Regulated according to Council Directive 89/556/EEC and S.I. No. 19/2009 and approved as well as licensed by the Department of Agriculture, our lab is equipped accordingly. Our residential service, with a focus on nutrition, fertility and flushing programmes, offers you an extra level of service if required.

Support, genetics and expertise are at the heart of every service we provide. At Dúnmasc Genetics, we enable farmers to take control of the genetic direction of their herd and meet all of their goals.
