Advanced Scanning – Phase 4 Theory Advanced Scanning – Phase 4 Theory October 5th & 6th 2026
Course Instructor
Instructing: Giovanni Gnemmi
Giovanni is a veterinarian and professor of bovine reproductive pathology.
Description of Programme:
The Advanced Ultrasound Scanning course is a two-day theoretical program designed to enhance participants’ understanding and application of ultrasound technology in bovine reproduction.
Course Overview:
The Advanced Ultrasound Scanning course provides an in-depth exploration of the use of ultrasound scanners throughout the various stages of bovine pregnancy. Participants will gain essential theoretical knowledge and skills required for effective pregnancy diagnosis and reproductive evaluation, addressing both practical applications and underlying scientific principles.
Key Learning Outcomes:
1. Physical Principles of Ultrasonography:
– Participants will learn the fundamental physical principles that underpin ultrasonography, enabling them to understand how ultrasound imaging works.
2. Diagnosis of Late Embryonic Death and Pregnancy Pathologies:
– Instruction will cover techniques for identifying late embryonic death and various pathologies that may affect pregnancy, ensuring participants can recognize and address reproductive anomalies.
3. Effective Scanning Techniques:
– The course will outline ultrasound techniques that enhance scanning efficiency, emphasizing best practices for obtaining optimal images during examinations.
4. Diagnosis of Fetal Malformations:
– Participants will learn how to detect and diagnose fetal malformations, equipping them with the skills to assess developmental abnormalities in utero.
5. Understanding the Estrous Cycle:
– A comprehensive overview of the bovine estrous cycle will be provided, helping participants correlate reproductive timing with ultrasound findings.
6. Economic Evaluation Related to Follicular Dynamics:
-The course will include discussions on the economic implications of follicular dynamics, allowing participants to appreciate the financial aspects of reproductive management.
7. Ultrasound Examination of the Uterus:
– Participants will engage in learning about the ultrasound examination of the uterus, with a focus on the physiopathology related to bovine reproduction.
8. Ultrasound Diagnosis of Pregnancy:
-The curriculum will cover the criteria and techniques for confirming pregnancy via ultrasound, equipping participants with the knowledge to perform accurate diagnoses.
9. Diagnosis of Twin Pregnancies:
– Special attention will be given to identifying twin pregnancies, providing learners with the skills necessary to manage the implications of multiple gestations.
